Salary Range: $24.97/per hour plus fringe benefit of $10.01/hr. ($7.51 H&W / $2.25 401k contribution)

Hours: Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (8/hr. shifts)

  • Shift Differential: 4% (2nd shift) or 6% (3rd shift) differential pay only if the majority of hours worked fall within the shift differential window

Job Description:

The General Maintenance Worker/Groundskeeper is responsible for building and maintaining gardens, parks, property buildings, and other outdoor landscapes. They ensure plant growth, the cleanliness of outdoor facilities and the pruning of overgrown hedges. Additionally, Groundskeepers oversee maintenance repairs and equipment, landscape structures, outdoor furniture, and walkways.

A high school diploma or equivalent certification is required for Groundskeepers as well as two years of landscaping or grounds keeping experience. Successful Groundskeepers are detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills with great stamina. Ideal Groundskeepers possess a strong knowledge of pest management and basic lawn maintenance.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform general maintenance duties such as cleaning walkways, fixing fountains, and applying plaster, caulking, etc.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in groundskeeping, i.e., mowers, blowers, weed eaters, chainsaws, etc.
  • Utilize pesticides to rid grounds of pests such as mosquitos, wasps, and ticks.
  • Efficiently apply fertilizer to property grounds to enhance growth.
  • Safely cut grounds using hand, power or riding mower for trimming edges around walkways, flower beds, and walls.
  • Monitor property grounds to ensure a pleasant appearance.
  • Be willing to train and enhance knowledge in assigned duties.
  • Ensure grounds are free of weeds and dead plants.
  • Monitor campus during freezing spells and applying ice melt or utilizing equipment to remove snow.
  • Operate and maintain grounds equipment (skid steer loader, farm tractor, front end loader/backhoe, and other misc. equipment.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a landscaping or grounds keeping role.
  • Must be able to safely operate maintenance equipment including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers.
  • Strong knowledge of pest management and basic lawn maintenance
  • Current Pesticide Applicator’s license for Georgia
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of horticulture
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds +
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a variety of outside conditions for long periods of time
  • Employees may be subject to immunization and testing requirements pursuant to Client and current Company requirements.
  • Employees must meet the requirements of the federal credentialing process to access the facility, which includes but is not limited to, obtaining facility access (aka PIV card, smart card, access card, badge) and meeting ongoing training and access requirements.
